Book early
Many activities are oversubscribed and we allow a maximum of 15 schools a day. Ask to be put on our mailing list so that you get programme information as soon as it is available.
Make a preliminary visit if at all possible
The Museum has free admission. Some special temporary exhibitions have an entrance fee. Please phone in advance for information.
Plan your journey carefully
Make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes before your first timed activity to allow time to check in. We regret that we have no coach parking.
Brief your pupils about their visit
Ask them to respect other visitors and the fabric of the building. Please remember that you are responsible for the behaviour of your group and must remain with them at all times. You will be given a pager when you check in, this is to help us get in contact with you in the Museum should there be an emergency or we need to speak to you.
Popular demand
Due to popular demand it is usually only possible to allocate one special activity per school per visit.
Maximum party size 60
Recommended staff to pupil ratio 1:10 (1:15 is our minimum staff to pupil ratio, for health and safety reasons groups may be turned away if they do not comply).
Confirmation
A letter will be sent confirming each booking. It will include an itinerary and will act as your admission ticket. You will also be sent our guidelines concerning behaviour and our risk assessment. We expect all groups to abide by this otherwise they may be asked to leave.
Changing bookings and cancellations
Because of popular demand for activities we are unable to change bookings for special activities, including experiences once they are made. Cancellation of a special activity, including experiences a month or less before your visit will incur a fee of £50. Cancellations must be made by telephone and then followed up by letter.
