The Children’s War
Marking the sixtieth anniversary of VE Day and the end of the Second World War, this major exhibition looks at the home front in Britain through the eyes of children. It provides a unique and moving insight into the impact of the war on the children who lived through it. Taking a child’s perspective on such topics as evacuation, air raids, rationing and the blackout, the positive and negative aspects of the war are illustrated through original letters, diaries, artefacts, photographs and oral recordings. As part of the exhibition, the popular 1940s House has received a victory make-over and has become the centrepiece of a new hands-on gallery where children can learn about life on the home front.

Dates Until December 2010
Times 10.00am – 6.00pm
Suitability Years 3 – 13, Ideal for History and Citizenship
Party Size Maximum 30

It is essential to pre-book; the exhibition is very popular with school groups and it is unlikely that there will be space available if left until the date of your visit.
