All Creatures Great and Small

Scientists have studied the behaviour of primates, marine mammals, birds, insects and other creatures to discover how their innate abilities can be harnessed for use in war.

Pigs and rats have been used to sniff out landmines. Bottlenose dolphins have been trained by the US Navy to seek out underwater mines, and sea lions have been taught to locate and tag undersea objects that might threaten military forces.
