Animals Aid
Pets, livestock and wild animals, as well those directly employed by the military, have become casualties in modern conflict.
The Army Veterinary Corps (Royal Army Veterinary Corps after November 1918) provided professional treatment for military animals throughout the twentieth century.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Our Dumb Friends’ League (now The Blue Cross) raised substantial funds to help equip and maintain the AVC in the First World War.
Charities around the world continue to campaign to highlight the plight of animals involved in war and to raise funds for their care.
